How can I get my Class III medical?

I have been taking flying lessons so far this summer, and I absolutely love flying just as I thought I would. When I decided this, I knew that the next step was to get my medical, just as my flight instructor told me. I went to a local AME, where the exam went great... until she called me at home later that day and told me that she had to defer my case to the FAA in Oklahoma (where it is rumored they take months to close a case). The thing is however, that I don%26#039;t really have %26quot;months%26quot; to wait, not to mention how eager I am to solo. I go to school in the fall and I know I don%26#039;t think I will have the time to fly. Really, I%26#039;m wondering if there is anyway I can get my application reviewed sooner in hopes of getting my medical/student pilot certificate. Thanks a bunch!!!

The amount of time it takes depends on your situation. They%26#039;re not as slow as you think... I had a cardiac situation that was reviewed within about 8 weeks. Yours might be simpler.

This is why it%26#039;s a good idea to do a little investigating up front to make sure you%26#039;re going to be ok. Check your meds and existing conditions against the list at the FAA Web site before going in for the medical. As it is now you have no choice but to wait.

One thing you might want to do is call AOPA (join first if you haven%26#039;t already) and ask them about your specific situation. They have specialists who can get you the right answer quickly.

Contact the regional Flight Surgeon for the FAA or www.virtualflightsurgeon.com and ask. If you%26#039;re an AOPA member, ask them.

OKC has gotten alot better on turn times, but your AME should have known they would have to send when they talked to you. And, most immediately punt to OKC when they could go to the Region and get a quicker answer.

Maybe it%26#039;s time to find a new AME.
Reply:Someone can%26#039;t wait to get their balls fondled with to get a piece of paper.
Reply:I waited 5 months for my First class med after deferment...........Expect to wait months. Don%26#039;t even consider trying to take it again because the FAA keeps records and will have some questions to ask about why you lied the second time. it takes time but you%26#039;ll solo soon enough

Why does the airplane make my stomach "go up"?

That ticklish feeling like when the plane takes off. I wonder why your body would signal such a reaction? Any evolutionary purpose? Can%26#039;t think of one, but it tickles.

Course turbulence, on the other hand, makes me feel sick %26gt;.%26lt;
Why does the airplane make my stomach %26quot;go up%26quot;?
loss of gravity for a short moment
Why does the airplane make my stomach %26quot;go up%26quot;?
Gravity acting on your stomach. There is a membrane in the mid-torso which supports the stomach and is flexible. This has a certain amount of %26#039;give%26#039; which allows it to shield the stomach from undue shocks and stresses. When the aircraft climbs, the whole body starts moving upwards. The membrane flexes and allows the stomach to lag behind momentarily before letting it catch up with the body. This is the feeling you describe. This feeling is also pronounced when descending and especially in steep dives.

What could I do to record the height of a homemade rocket?

OK lets say I made a homemade rocket and wanted to see how far it went up. What could I do? Would I get one of those RC flight data recorder things or am I not understanding what a flight data recorder does?
What could I do to record the height of a homemade rocket?
There are cheap commercial altimeters available for model rockets. There is even a ready to fly rocket with an altimeter nose cone available from Estes.

You could buy the rocket and use that nose cone
What could I do to record the height of a homemade rocket?
buy a small altimeter which measures max altitude.
Reply:Walk back say 20 feet from the launch pad, and when you shoot the rocket, measure the angle that it makes with the ground. (So from the point 20 feet back from the launch pad to the highest point of the rocket%26#039;s path, imagine a line that intersects the ground.) Measure the angle, and use the law of cosine or sine, whichever it is (or maybe tangent...) to find the height of the rocket.

If that ^ confused you, send me a message and I will explain it better.

Hope this helps

How much does flight lessons cost?and where can i get them?

You should spend around a $100 an hour and they%26#039;re availble at most small airports
How much does flight lessons cost?and where can i get them?
I%26#039;m currently flying out of VNY (Van Nuys, California) and private pilot lessons cost about $120/hour for aircraft and another $50/hour for instructor. Only start if you know you can finish.
How much does flight lessons cost?and where can i get them?
You are looking at around 85 - 135/hr for an airplane these days (Cherokee, Warrior, or a 172 ) A Cessna 150 or similar would be a tad less.... An instructor...with inflation of todays economy would probably be $35-$55.00/hr.

I charged $30.00/hr back in 03-05...so it is probably a bit more these days....Do it now...while it is still an option for the regular working man....

Take a minute and calculate....

Books/Supplies - Jeppesen has some great material..so does gleim...anywhere from $85 - $200.00 for these

You do not have to take ground school..although most people do...this will run about $200.00 for the course...maybe more in some places..im basing this from a few years ago..

A minimum of 40 hours total time ( will work out to be a little more usually)

Take 25 of that for buffer with an instructor...120 (average, + 35.00 (average for a CFI these days)

Work on it as much as you can...

Bottom line is around 5- 8K....

Go to the NAFI website (National Association of Flight Instructors) and click to FIND AN INSTRUCTOR...

www.nafinet.org.....enter your city and info and it will pull up phone numbers and locations of all active CFI%26#039;s that are members in your area....

Best of luck on your adventure.....

Any aircraft spotters online?

Hi guys, I love my aircraft, I am on aircraft videos a lot but its nearly same stuff.

I was on one site and it showed lots of aircraft around the hangars waiting to be fitted out for new airlines etc, there was a Virgin 747 partially painted, it was clear it was a virgin aircraft. Does anyone know of this site and any other good sites to visit.

I am disabled and stk indoors aslot so I spend hours on my laptop but the sites I use r starting to bore me.

Any good free aircrsaft tracking around UK airspace hopefully in real time?

Cheers guys
Any aircraft spotters online?
Get really good with www.google.com...

You can type stuff in, and click on the %26#039;Images%26#039; button to find pictures. If you want to be really specific, try typing things in quotes, and it will search for the exact string you have in quotes.

Good luck.
Any aircraft spotters online?
Hi;Here are two sites relating specifically to Hurn airport,Bournemouth,there%26#039;s a restoration firm based there working on post WW2 aircraft.

www.aviation-museum.co.uk

www.demobbed.org.uk

Most UK airports have websites dedicated to tracking arrivals/departures.Manchester and Birmingham for example.

For aircraft DVD%26#039;s (Poss;videos),look at the Royal International Air Tattoo collection.

Red Admiral RA331,ten years of airshows.
Reply:You,ve probably already got Airliners.net so try planepictures.net as well. As to free tracking, I don%26#039;t know of any. I am thinking of getting an SDS-1 though. At around 拢400, it%26#039;ll give you real-time.
